New Sweepstakes Bill in Florida might be an obstacle for Online Poker

With the new sweepstakes bill passed recently, it looks quite difficult for the Florida House to regulate and legalize internet poker there.

According to the bill, it is not legal for electronic devices to accept coins, currencies or bank account numbers. At the same time, it is not correct for them to accept codes, which award players with prizes or credits.

There is only one exception to this bill and it is the electronic gaming device located at racetracks, casinos and tribal reserves.

This bill has been introduced to address the loophole in the existing regulation, which was being used by several internet cafes to provide internet gambling there.

Cafes in the state are offering players with a chance to take home prizes, if they buy online time. With this time, they can play on machines similar to slots. If they win at these slots, they can take home lucrative prizes.

Supporters of online poker bill believe that the way, which this new bill has been written, it might make things difficult for online poker to be legalized in the state. For legalization of the online poker bill, it will require modifications on the sweepstakes bill just implemented.
